The 1999 Penfolds St Henri Shiraz is a great wine, the fruit was sourced from Penfolds Vineyards throughout South Australia. The 1999 vintage was a great one for Penfolds especially the Barossa Valley. The start to summer was cool and dry then a hot spell in late January and a return to cool and moderate conditions for harvest.
The 1999 St Henri is a blend of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon, it was matured in large old oak vats for 12 months. St Henri wines are made to cellar for a long time, 20 to 30 years, the 1999 vintage should be drinking well until at least 2024, some 25 years from harvest.
