The 2012 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz is a super release of this much loved and collected Australian wine. Often called “Baby Grange” or ‘Poor mans Grange” the Bin 389 is matured in American oak vats that previously held Grange.
Fruit used for the 2012 Penfolds Bin 389 was sourced from premium vineyards throughout South Australia including the Barossa Valley, Wrattonbully, Robe, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. 2012 was a great vintage throughout South Australia, it was indeed a memorable.
A blend of cabernet sauvignon (54%) and shiraz (46%) the 2012 Penfolds Bin 389 was matured in oak for 12 months of which 40% were new and 60% were one year old. She is an awesome wine, a cracking Bin 389 and weighs in at 14.5% alc/vol.
