Description
2010 Penfolds Bin 169 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is one of those deluxe Penfolds Special Bin release wines made every now and then. This vintage, 2010 Bin 169 was made to reflect Penfolds contemporary winemaking approach, emphasising both the region and maturation of cabernet sauvignon in new fine grain French oak. The 2010 vintage was the third Bin 169 vintage in a row but I don’t think we have seen one since.
Cabernet Sauvignon fruit was sourced from a single vineyard (single block) from the Coonawarra Wine Region, the 2010 vintage was noted as top notch for both Coonawarra Cabernet and Penfolds. The 2010 Wynns John Riddoch is out-standing!
The 2010 Bin 169 was matured in new French oak for 14 months. Like most Penfolds red wines, she comes in at 14.5% alc/vol and has a cellaring future of about 30 years or more. This wine has received some nice scores from wine critics throughout Australia. It currently retails for $350+ if you can find it for sale….
