Description

2012 Langmeil “The Freedom” 1843 shiraz needs no introduction.  Made from shiraz vines that were planted in 1843, they were a mere 169 years of age for the 2012 vintage.  Langmeil “The Freedom” 1843 Shiraz is a must have wine for your cellar, it is indeed a bottle of Australian wine history.

In 1843, vigneron Christian Auricht planted vines which until this day are still surviving and are amongst the oldest vines in the world.  It is from these vines that the 2012 Langmeil “The Freedom” 1843 Shiraz was made.

2012 was a great vintage throughout the Barossa Valley.  The fruit for the 2012 The Freedom 1843 Shiraz was sourced from a single vineyard at Langmeil, in Tanunda, Barossa Valley, it is 100% shiraz.  The 2012 vintage was matured in French oak Hogsheads and Barriques (69% new and 31% old) for 24 months.  She comes in at 14.6% alc/vol and should cellar well for at least 25 years or more.
