Description

2004 Penfolds St Henri is dense and dark red.  It is an intense St Henri with spicy notes, lavender, rosemary, nutmeg and liquorice.  On the palate, the 2004 Penfolds St Henri is exceptional.  It’s ripe and rounded with dark cherry fruits complexed by black pudding and roasted lamb flavours (sounds like a 3 course meal hey?)  Fruit used for the 2004 Penfolds St Henri was sourced from the Barossa Valley, Langhorne Creek and Adelaide Hills.  The 2004 Penfolds St Henri is a blend of 96% Shiraz, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and was matured in old large oak vats for 16 months.  The 2004 vintage was outstanding for Penfolds, the wines are elegant with fruit intensity.

Penfolds St Henri is a great Australian wine, wine collectors adore it and it’s currently very affordable compared to Grange.  Old vintages of St Henri do come up for sale from time to time but there isn’t a lot of them around, so if you see a chance I’d suggest you take it.
