Established in 1979, Bass Phillip Winery is located in Leongatha which itself is in the Gippsland Wine Region of Victoria.  Bass Phillip Winery, named after two great explorer’s George Bass and Arthur Phillip, specialises in high quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  The Reserve Pinot Noir is quite difficult to secure in reasonable size quantities, 6 or 12 bottles because it is extremely limited and is quite expensive.  Phillip Jones has employed organic practices since 1993 and biodynamic since 2002.  Know-how and passion and the main drivers for process at Bass Phillip with attention detail in both the vineyard and wine making room.

Bass Phillip Reserve Pinot Noir is only made in exceptional vintages and is highly sought by collectors of Pinot Noir.  Phillip Jones, winemaker believes the difference between good Pinot Noir and great Pinot Noir is texture.  To achieve optimum flavour and natural balance, Phillip Jones employes minimal intervention principles during the wine making process.  Bass Phillip Reserve Pinot Noir is matured in new Alliers oak for about 20 months.  The wine is unfiltered and is a considered to be one of the finest wines made in Australia.  Bass Phillip Reserve Pinot Noir possess concentrated spicy/black cherry fruit, savoury mocha oak and supple tannins.  Bass Phillip Reserve Pinot Noir is a wonderful Pinot Noir, consistent each vintage with abundant character and charm, the best vintages can cellar for 25 years or more.
