Description
2010 Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Shiraz. Each bottle comes with its own timber presentation case. The 2010 Penfolds Grange is the Grange we have all been waiting for, I’ve heard Penfolds say that quite a few times over the last decade but even I am confident in recommending that this is a quintessential Penfolds Grange.
The 2010 Penfolds Grange is made up from shiraz (96%) and cabernet sauvignon (4%). It spent 17 months in new American hogsheads prior to bottling and cellaring at Penfolds before release. Fruit used in the 2010 Penfolds Grange was sourced from premium vineyards located in the Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Magill Estate. The 2010 Penfolds Grange is a 50 year wine and will drink up until 2060 so long as it is cellared in ideal conditions.
The 2010 vintage throughout South Australia was a classic vintage, healthy winter rains, a warm dry spring helped bus burst. A cool start to summer throughout December offered ideal growing conditions for vines. During harvest the weather was also cool and some yields were low but the fruit quality was outstanding. This is an exceptional vintage for South Australia and rates either a nine or ten out of ten, depending on who you speak with.
