Description

2008 wasn’t regarded as the best vintage of the 2000’s but the 2008 Penfolds Grange was rated 100/100 by America’s The Wine Spectator and that is enough to ensure decent quantities of this wine are scarce!

Penfolds have a number of their own vineyards and vineyards owned by growers from which they source their fruit for most of their red wines.  Fruit for the 2008 Penfolds Grange was sourced from vineyards located in the Barossa Valley, Clare Valley and from Penfolds own Magill Estate.  This vintage sees that Barossa Valley fruit makes up 89% of the wine whilst the Clare Valley’s contribution is 9%.  The 2008 Penfolds Grange is a blend of Shiraz 98% and Cabernet Sauvignon 2%.  As always, Grange was matured in new American oak, this vintage was for 19 months.  Penfolds believe the 2008 Penfolds Grange will drink through until 2056, some 48 years and she weighs in at the usual 14.5% alc/vol.
