Description

1994 Penfolds Grange is considered a very good to excellent Penfolds Grange. It is only now becoming increasingly more popular on the secondary wine market as Grange drinkers slowly wake up to how good this wine actually is. The 1994 Penfolds Grange has in the past been referred to as “the forgotten Grange” it isn’t considered an “A” Grade Grange but it’s not far off them.

The 1994 Penfolds Grange is medium deep crimson in colour. It has roasted coffee/black cherry/plum/mocha aromas with hints of fresh mint and herbs. It is a powerful wine with deep set blackberry/mocha/espresso coffee/bitter chocolate flavours with sweet fruit, leather/earthy/black olive nuances and fine dense tannins. It finishes long and sweet, it is a lovely Grange from a very good/excellent vintage.

The 1994 Penfolds Grange is made from a blend of shiraz 89% and cabernet sauvignon 11%, with fruit sourced from the Barossa Valley, Coonawarra and McLaren Vale wine regions. The 1994 Penfolds Grange was aged in new American oak for 18 months.
