2016 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a dense and deeply flavoured Moss Wood Cabernet. Winemakers believe the 2016 vintage is of similar quality and shares similarities to the cracking 2005 vintage. Matured in French and American Oak for 24 months cellar until 2041+
The Moss Wood Vineyard was established in 1969 and is located in the Margaret River, Western Australia. The first vintage was in 1973 and only 250 cases were made. Moss Wood cabernet is now matured in a combination of new and used French oak for around 24 months.
Moss Wood is a producer of fine wine and the Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Australia’s best cabernets, it is up there with Penfolds Bin 707, Cullen Diana Madeline, Mount Mary Quintet and Wynns Coonawarra Cabernet.
The wine is made from fruit grown at the Moss Wood Vineyard, it is a rich and ripe wine with Wilyabrup characters of chocolate, coffee bean, mulberries and cassis.
The final blend is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, this wine is noted as being one of the more complex Moss Wood Cabernets made for some time.
