Description
John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon is made from the best fruit grown at Wynns Coonawarra. First made in 1982, Wynns John Riddoch is the flag ship wine of Wynns extensive portfolio. Made only in years when fruit is of the highest quality it is recognised as one of Australia’s best wines.
The 2010 Wynns John Riddoch sold out in a flash, there are a few bottles hanging around at some fine wine retailers but most of them are tucked away in cellars.
The 2010 Wynns John Riddoch is made from 100% cabernet sauvignon fruit. It was matured in a combination of new and used French oak hogsheads for 17 months. Weighing in at 13.5% alc/vol it should reward cellaring for 10 to 15 years, perhaps much longer. The 2010 vintage was a classic in Coonawarra, the wine displays layers of complex aromas of cedary oak, dark fruits and brambly notes with clear cabernet distinction. The palate possesses depth and flavour. Cassis, smoky spicy oak, complex notes of violets, tobacco and dark chocolate. She’s concentrated but elegant, deeply fruited and packed with flavour, silky ripe tannins culminate into a seamless wine of power and precision, a signature Wynns Coonawarra John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon.
