The 2001 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon is the best wine made at Moss Wood. The 2001 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon has a very fragrant nose of violets, blackberries and mulberries with some earth and spicy, cedary notes. The palate is deep and densely flavoured, ripe cassis and mulberry, complexed by chocolate and coffee bean characters. The Moss Wood Vineyard was established in 1969 and is located in the Margaret River, Western Australia. The first vintage was in 1973 and only 250 cases were made. Moss Wood cabernet is now matured in a combination of new and used French oak for around 24 months. Moss Wood is a producer of fine wine and the Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Australia’s best cabernets, it is up there with Penfolds Bin 707, Cullen Diana Madeline, Mount Mary Quintet and Wynns Coonawarra Cabernet. Moss Wood cabernet is made from fruit grown at the Moss Wood Vineyard, it is a rich and ripe wine with Wilyabrup characters of chocolate, coffee bean, mulberries and cassis. Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon contains 4% Cabernet Franc for its cherry like fruit aromas and 4% Petit Verdot for its berry aromas and firmer structure.
