2008 Henschke Hill of Roses is produced from vineyards grown in the Hill of Grace Vineyard.  These small selection of low-yielding dry grown shiraz vines, which are named Post Office Block produce fruit too good to be declassified but to young to be included in the Hill of Grace.

Eden Valley's 2008 vintage saw average rainfall and frost-free spring.  An early, but hot and dry summer resulted in small berries and bunch sizes.  Temperatures hit 40C during the New Year festive season and again in mid February but in between was cool, the coolest for about 30 years.  In March of 2008, the Eden Valley experienced 15 consecutive days of temperatures reaching 35 degrees or more, causing a few headaches however the cool weather then rolled through which brought a lot of relief.  The Fruit was picked early mornings, any fruit that was shrivelled was left on the vine, what was picked and made into wine was spectacular, with amazing intensity, deep colours and depth of flavour.

The 2008 Henschke Hill of Roses was matured in new French oak for 18 months then bottles.  She weighs in at around 14.5% alc/vol and cellaring for 25 years or more should see a spectacular Hill of Roses.
