The 2016 Sorrenberg Sauvignon Blanc Semillon has been rated 97Pts and 82Pts by two well known wine critics.  The write up of the 97Pt critic was an amazing read, almost like the 2008 Obama Presidential Victory Speech, not that I read that but I did listen to it.  It was captivating and enthralling, I couldn't stop reading it, I wanted it to go on and on.  I felt a sense of tranquility, I was taken away...   I suspect such a review would take a while to write.   Anyhow, just head over to The Wine Front and check it out, it is great reading.  The other review was summed up in 8 words and was a bit of a let down.  I really don't understand it.  I'm not a critic, I'm just an average bloke having a crack.  Wine retail is really hard nowadays, every man and his dawg are into it.

Anyway, the 2016 Sorrenberg Sauvignon Blanc Semillon was made up of a blend comprising 80% Sauv Blanc and 20% Semillon.  A large portion of the Sauv Blanc fruit had 8 hours skin contact before it was pressed.  The Semillon however was crushed and pressed as soon as it was picked.  100% barrel fermented, mostly in large barrels with natural yeast fermentation.  The wine was left on lees for an extended period, which fills out the middle palate and gives it that extra dimension that she's  known for.

The 2016 Sorrenberg Sauvignon Blanc Semillon has an enticing nose with guava and gooseberries with a hint of freshly mown hay.  The palate is a combination of these with citrus and minerality combined creating a good long mouth feel with balanced acidity.  Cellar with confidence for 8 years or more.
