Château Pétrus is located on the eastern edge of the Pomerol appellation (which borders Saint Emillion) and it is regarded as one of Bordeaux's most important sites.  Pomerol has never been classified, however Petrus is regarded as the 'outstanding' wine of this appellation and quite possible the entire right bank.  Petrus is one of the worlds great wine producers, the estate is around 12 hectares in size and is set on clay dense soils.  The Merlot vines are around 70 years old and the wine is matured in new French oak for between 22 months and 28 months.

The 2009 Chateau Petrus is made from 100% Merlot.  Perfect conditions during the 2009 vintage enabled the team at Petrus to produce a wine that is as close to perfection as is possible.  The 2009 Chateau Petrus is a wine that wine cellar comfortably for many decades where it will evolve and gain complexity but if you cannot wait that long it is also very approachable now.  The 2009 Chateau Petrus was rated 100 points by Robert Parker Jnr.
