Cullen Wines is located in the Margaret River, Western Australia.  Cullen rate the 2011 Kevin John Chardonnay is one of the best releases of this magnificent Margaret River chardonnay.  The summer was warm and dry which led to very high quality fruit enabling Cullen to produce another outstanding Kevin John Chardonnay.  The fruit was hand picked at a range of sugar levels but when in excellent physioloical condition.  It was gently pressed with a basket press producing a wine of elegance and great complexity.   
 
 
The 2011 Kevin John Chardonnay is brilliant straw in colour.  The bouquet is complex and intense, with fresh citrus, almond, green apple and pear aromas.  The palate is rich, focused and crisp, fresh citrus, almond, honeysuckle flavours complimented by good acidity. A wine of great length, persistence and purity precision. 
 
 
Fruit for the 2011 Kevin John Chardonnay was sourced from Cullen Vineyard.  Harvest was on 1, 9 & 11 February 2011.  The fruit was whole bunch basket pressed and fermented with wild yeast in French barriques 33% undergoing natural malolactic fermentation. The wine was matured for seven months in oak barrels, 32% new and the remainder were one year old.
